Their diverse backgrounds span strategic investment, sustainable development, and leadership across emerging markets—insights that will be invaluable as we navigate the path ahead.
Here is a brief history on each of our board members:
- Adeolu is a strategic advisor and an accomplished business leader with almost 26 years of professional and executive experience in financial services across four continents. Afro-optimist, dedicated to fostering sustainable growth in Africa. Founder & Managing Director of ZER Consulting Africa. Former MD/CEO of Allianz Nigeria.
- Frank is the current CEO of the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVCA), a network of investors who are collaborating to increase the flow of capital into social investments across Africa. He has extensive experience from several organizations like the African Leadership Academy and spent 14 years in senior positions with Eli Lilly.
- Gilbert, the former CEO of Rwanda’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, is a highly seasoned banking and finance lawyer, boasting over two decades of expertise in advising on secured transactions, corporate finance, and capital markets. Brings a deep understanding and knowledge of sovereign wealth funds, supranational institutions and African institutional investors.
- Kanini is a seasoned entrepreneur and impact investment leader with +21 years of investing experience in SSA, Europe and USA. She serves as MD at Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation and is also Chair of AECF’s Investment Committee. She has corporate experience working with extensive experience at firms like KPMG, E&Y, Merrill Lynch.
- Elias stands out as a pivotal figure in regional influential initiatives. His contributions have significantly shaped the impact investing landscape, notably as a founding member of the Impact Investing SA Movement. As a board member of the MultiChoice Group, GSG on Impact Investing, former Chairman of Sanlam and member of the South African GEPF board, his expertise stretches across economic policy, social development, investment strategy and literature.
- Anu is an experienced investment banking, strategy and TMT executive with more than 26 years of experience in various sectors, at both Board and Executive levels. She founded MTN Bayobab in 2018 and was member of the board of directors of the Development Bank of South Africa for 9 years.
