Oryx Impact Awarded Convergence Blended Finance Grant

Oryx Impact has been awarded a proof-of-concept grant and acceleration support by Convergence Blended Finance through the Blended Finance Accelerator for Fund Managers (A4FM), funded by Global Affairs Canada.

This recognition signals growing momentum behind fund-of-funds strategies designed to mobilise institutional capital into African impact ecosystem. It marks a transition from structuring to implementation for Oryx Impact’s blended finance approach.

This support will accelerate the launch of our Fund-of-Funds designed to channel capital into African impact funds while introducing blended finance features to crowd in local institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds.

About the Blended Finance Accelerator for Fund Managers

Announced on the sidelines of the World Bank Spring Meetings, the A4FM selected six fund and asset managers in its inaugural cohort. The program provides catalytic grant funding and tailored acceleration support to scope, structure, and launch scalable blended finance vehicles that mobilize private and institutional capital towards developing markets.

The selected vehicles span multiple asset classes – including private equity, credit, and venture capital – and target critical areas such as small and medium-sized enterprise financing, climate adaptation, and job creation.

About Convergence

Convergence Blended Finance is widely regarded as the leading global platform for blended finance, bringing together public, private, and philanthropic investors to structure and scale investment solutions in emerging markets. Supported by the Government of Canada, Convergence has become a central reference point for the industry through its data, research, and design funding programs, supporting the development of over 90 blended finance projects and contributing to the mobilization of private capital at scale.

Selection into its accelerator program is a result of a rigorous and highly competitive due diligence process, focused on identifying fund managers with the potential to deliver scalable, market-relevant investment vehicles.

Moving Forward

This milestone positions Oryx Impact’s strategy within a broader shift in the market: from deploying catalytic capital in isolated transactions to structuring vehicles capable of mobilising institutional capital at scale.

The focus now is on execution — demonstrating that blended finance, applied at the fund-of-funds level, can effectively crowd in domestic institutional investors and contribute to more resilient and self-sustaining capital markets in Africa.
